DeKalb County Police have released surveillance pictures of two vehicles of interest in relation to several attempted assaults that have occurred near Emory’s campus, according to DeKalb Police Capt. Stephen Fore.

In January, a female Emory student reported to the Emory Police Department (EPD) that she was raped in the wooded area around Oxford Road and Dowman Drive.

The photos, released on March 21, are the latest development in the investigation into the rape and a string of potentially related attempted sexual assaults near Emory’s campus. Police have already released a composite sketch of the suspect and have also obtained video footage from the night of the reported rape in February.

Fore wrote in an email to the Wheel that the two vehicles being sought in connection with the case are an older-model, dark-colored pickup truck and a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee.

“Detectives believe the pickup truck shown is directly connected to the suspect,” Fore wrote. “We are hoping someone will be able to recognize the truck due to some distinct features, such as the faded or off color, passenger rear bed and the diamond cut toolbox on the back.”

As for the Jeep, Fore said that the vehicle was placed in the area near the time of one of the assaults and the driver may be able to provide valuable information to detectives.

“Detectives with DeKalb Police and Emory Police have both been working together very hard on this case,” Fore wrote. “We ask that the community stay alert and pass along any information to DeKalb or Emory Police.”
