Stalking at the Emory Student Center
On Feb. 16, a female student working at the Emory Student Center (ESC) anonymously reported that she was being stalked by a male coworker. According to the police report, it is not known if the coworker was a student.
No injury was reported. Emory Police Department (EPD) Records Manager Ed Shoemaker said that the anonymous report means EPD does not have anyone to talk to in order to proceed with the investigation.

Burglary, forcible entry at Clairmont Tower
A student living in a single room at Clairmont Residential Tower reported two pairs of pants being stolen from a drawer in her room sometime between Feb. 6 and Feb. 10. The value stolen from her room was $100.
The door was not kicked in, but it is considered forcible entry if someone uses a key or breaks in to enter a room.
“She did not say whether her room was locked,” Shoemaker said.
However, the student indicated that she wanted to get her locks changed.
Hazing at Alpha Tau Omega update
EPD has no update on the investigation into the hazing allegations at Alpha Tau Omega on Jan. 28.
According to a Jan. 31 police report, an anonymous source reported that pledges were “forced to run up Eagle Row in freezing temperatures” and were required to remove their shirts.
“With anonymous reporting, we keep running into the same stone wall,” Shoemaker said.
Since no one has identified themselves as the reporter, Shoemaker does not see any progress being made on this case in the future.
Harassing communications at Gambrell Hall
On the evening of Feb. 9, an employee at the Emory Law School received a series of harassing voicemails. The caller used harsh language, including curse words and derogatory descriptions of the recipient.
The Emory employee was unaware of the caller’s identity and intention.
The tone of the calls was “sufficiently upsetting” for the employee to call EPD on Feb. 10, Shoemaker said.
The case has been assigned for investigation, and Shoemaker hopes EPD will be in contact with the caller.
Bikes stolen around the residence halls
Several bikes have been taken around campus, including incidents at Woodruff Residential Center, Dobbs Hall and Highland Bakery at the Goizueta Business School.
In all of these instances, locks were cut and taken with the bicycle. Chain locks and old fashioned padlocks are easy to cut with bolt cutters, so EPD urges bicycle owners to purchase U-locks.
EPD also encourages owners to make note of their bicycle’s serial number, since that is the only way EPD can trace it.
Criminal trespass at Raoul Hall
On Feb. 3, EPD arrested someone for trespassing at Raoul Hall. People reported suspicious activity by an individual. According to EPD, the person was someone who did not belong in the building. The person had no affiliation with the University.
EPD Communications Director Morieka Johnson advised students to maintain building security, saying, “we don’t want students to be polite and feel obligated to let someone in who doesn’t have a card.”
