A DeKalb County water main break that occurred this morning has disrupted water supply to Emory’s campus, according to an email from Assistant Director of Housing Facilities and Operations T.J. Greggs-Edwards, producing brown discoloration in the water.

The discoloration is caused by sediment in the water pipes, according to DeKalb County Communications. The water main break occurred at 920 Clairemont Ave. in Decatur at approximately 11 a.m.

Though a boil water advisory has not been issued, county residents have been advised to “run their faucets until the water is clear,” a DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management tweet reads.

In his email, Greggs-Edwards advised residents to run their water for up to 15 minutes.

Repair crews are currently on site, following a delay to repair a nearby gas line, an updated tweet states. The damage to the gas line is unrelated to the water main break.
