A Boogie Wit da Hoodie will perform at this year’s Dooley’s Week on April 4. The Student Programming Council (SPC) will hold the concert on McDonough Field, and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
SPC announced the lineup to Emory University students today around 10 a.m. in an Instagram post. The concert’s opening lineup will also feature student DJ David Yang (25B). At the fall Homecoming concert, SPC featured student performers as the opening acts for the first time.
A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, whose legal name is Artist Julius Dubose, is a rapper from the Bronx, N.Y. He released his first studio album, “The Bigger Artist,” in 2017. His second album, “Hoodie SZN” (2018), was his first number one album on the Billboard 200 chart.
“Drowning (feat. Kodak Black)” (2017) is A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s most streamed song on Spotify, with over 1 billion streams. Other popular songs include “Look Back at It” (2018) with nearly 850 million streams and “My Shit” (2016) with over 600 million streams.
SPC Executive Vice President Maya Degnemark (25B) wrote in an email to The Emory Wheel that SPC is anticipating its “highest turnout yet” at the concert.
“This music combo is really complimentary of each other being that the duo are of similar age and genre,” Degnemark wrote.
This is the third consecutive Dooley’s Week concert to include a rapper as the headlining act, following Flo Milli in spring 2024 and Flo Rida in spring 2023. Previous headliners include Dominic Fike in 2022, AJR in 2019, Lil Yachty in 2018 and Ty Dolla $ign in 2017. There were no in-person performances in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Student Involvement, Leadership and Transitions office decided not to sell concert guest passes to promote students’ safety and well-being. SPC is continuing this policy from the previous two semesters.
In the days leading up to the concert in celebration of Dooley’s Week, SPC is hosting a baseball tailgate, a Dooley’s Rising event — including a petting zoo and axe throwing — and a glow-in-the-dark roller skating event.
