The NC State Wolfpack started off the season badly. They failed to make a real impact in their first two games which caused the NCAAF odds to change dramatically. If you had taken these bets you would have made a fortune.

Although some bookies are still creating handicap odds NCAAF, the Wolfpack are showing their resilience. In the season, they haven’t allowed more than 30 points per game, making them the 14th-best team in the country right now.

The Wolfpack is all about defense, but which player is leading the team?

Wolfpack’s Best Passing Player

Although NC State has a fantastic defensive team right now, we cannot ignore the importance of scoring and passing.

If we look at the player with the best passing percentage, we would see Thayer Thomas WR. He is hitting 100%, however, with just two passes to his name this season, we cannot genuinely consider him the best passer on the team.

However, from 100%, we drop down to 61.1% with Devin Leary QB. Leary has attempted the most passes on the team but only 118 of the 193 have been successful. Although his success rate is lower than we would like, it is still higher than his average opponent.

Leary alone has created 1265 yards from his passes, which is almost double the second-best passer on the team – MJ Morris QB.

Without a doubt, we have to say that Devin Leary is the best passer on the team.

Wolfpack’s Best Rushing Player

From passing to rushing, it’s all about the yards in this game. Jordan Houston RB has gathered the most yards this season so far, with a total of 544 to his name. However, Huston has attempted a rush 136 times creating a small average of 4 yards per rush.

Demie Sumo-Karngaye RB has only attempted a rush 55 times this season. That’s around 60% less than Huston. However, Demie has accumulated 305 yards in that time. This has created an average of 5.5 yards per rush. Three of these rushes even turned into touchdowns!

The only other player to create a rushing touchdown was Devin Leary QB. He also created 3, although only technically reached 1 yard in his 23 attempts. For that reason, we cannot consider him the best rushing player, but we should keep an eye on him when we discuss scoring.

Houston creates more opportunities, while Demie produces more results. We cannot ignore the importance of results, so we have to state Demini Sumo-Karngbaye as the Wolfpack’s best rushing player.

Wolfpack’s Best Receiving Player

If we look at the numbers alone Thayer Thomas WR has earned the team the most yards this season. This powerhouse of a player has reached 642 yards in the 13 games he has played. He has made 57 receptions in those yards for an average of 11.3 yards per reception.

Within all of those high figures were an additional 4 touchdowns.

However, Thomas isn’t the only high-scoring receiver on the team. Devin Carter WR has made 25 receptions with 406 yards for an average of 16.2 yards per reception. Considering he has only played in 9 games, these figures are impressive.

Carter has also managed to secure 2 touchdown receptions in this chaos too.

Because his yards per recipient average is so strong, we think that Carter can easily overtake Thomas if he had more playtime.

It’s for this season that we think Junior Devin Carter is the best-receiving player in the Wolfpack.

Although other people might make a strong case for Senior Thayer Thomas, it won’t be long before the new kid on the block knocks Thomas off his pedestal.

Wolfpack’s Best Scoring Player

As a team Wolfpack has scored 33 points in the season. On average their opponents have scored 29. This is just a slight lead, but it shows that NC state is barely holding back their competition and the games are mostly an even fight.

The two players with the most points are Thayer Thomas WR and Demie Sump-Karngbaye RB. They have both scored 4 points each. Thomas achieved all of his through receiving touchdowns while Demie earned most of his through rushing touchdowns and one receiving TD.

The real difference between these two players can be found in their play times. Thomas has played in all 13 games so far, while Demie has only played in 8. With 5 fewer games to his name, Demie is still matching Thomas, suggesting he is the better scorer on average.

If we look at the team as a whole, every single player has scored at least one point, which makes the team well-balanced. However, as the highest scorers have only 4 points as their maximum it’s easy to see where the Wolfpack is falling behind.

If the managers give Demie more time, he could pick up more points and lift the team as a whole.

Summary

Demie Sumo-Karbage RB is the best scoring player and the best rushing player. He also has the most potential in the team.

If you see Demie in the line-up, make sure to bet on him!
