A member of Emory’s swimming and diving team has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a March 23 email sent to team members and their parents from Associate Coach Cindy Fontana.

The member, who lives off campus, marks the fourth student to test positive for the virus.

The email contained a letter from Director of Clinical Services at Emory Student Health Sharon Rabinovitz outlining public health guidelines.

“Student health services works with COVID-19 positive students to identify other students with whom they have spent a prolonged period of time in close contact,” the letter reads.

Fontana wrote that the University “has asked us to forward this letter to both the team and parents.”

As of press time, the University has not publicly announced the test result to the Emory community. In a March 22 email to the Wheel, Vice President for Academic Communications Nancy Seideman stated that the University did not have information, as of Sunday, that another student tested positive for the virus.
