Emory extends provost search through summer

Emory University is continuing its search for the next executive vice president for academic affairs and provost into the summer. Interim Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Lanny Liebeskind will continue in his role until Emory’s next provost begins their tenure, according to an Emory News Center release.

Liebeskind started as interim provost on Jan. 1 after serving as Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Chemistry and vice provost for strategic research initiatives since 2015.

University President Gregory Fenves praised Liebeskind for his work as interim provost.

“As the process to hire Emory’s next provost continues, the university’s academic mission is in very good hands with Dr. Liebeskind,” Fenves wrote in the release. “I deeply appreciate the commitment he has made by extending his service to Emory in this crucial role.”

Along with Fenves, the search advisory committee is comprised of multiple college deans and vice deans, former Student Government Association President Abigail Dubinski (25B), Graduate Student Government Association President Francis Albright (25G), faculty members and other advisers. Emory will continue to provide updates on the provost search website.
