Getting Started with Digital Exhibitions: Sharing your items with Omeka or CollectionBuilder

This workshop will lead members through the process of creating an online exhibition. The lesson provides artists, researchers, writers and more with the opportunity to organize and share their work using free software. 

  

Robyn Schiff Poetry Colloquium 

Date: Feb. 20-23, 1-2 p.m.

Location: Kemp Malone Library (Callaway N301)

As part of the Emory Creative Writing Program 2024-25 reading series, poet Robyn Schiff will read from her new epic “Information Desk” and answer audience questions. In “Information Desk,” Schiff recalls her experience working at The Metropolitan Museum of Art early in her career. 

Theater Emory: Static Head 

Date: Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m.

Location: Schwartz Center for Performing Arts

Cost: Free 

“Static Head,” a play by Emory University Playwriting Fellow Ryan Stevens, follows engineering students as they become entangled in the technological and moral landscape on an analog app. The play explores how technology threatens our humanity and changes the landscape in which we live. 

John Lawless Family Series — Pajama Concert: ‘Musical Bedtime Stories’

Date: Feb. 21, 7 p.m.

Location: Michael C. Carlos Museum

A performance of the Emory Chamber of Music Society of Atlanta 2024-25 series, the “Musical Bedtime Stories” invited audience members to enjoy a steaming cup of cocoa while hearing musical renditions of “The Three Little Pigs” and “Paddington Bear’s First Concert” with pianist Julia Coucheron and narrator Frank McDonnell.

TEDXEmory 2025 Conference: “Uncharted”

Date: Feb. 22, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 

Location: The Emory Student Center

Watch TED Talks from nurse practitioners, entrepreneurs, artists, Paralympic gold medalists and more. Under the theme “Uncharted,” these speeches will explore perceived limitations, shattered expectations and the future of innovation. 

Student Recital: Joey (Yitzhou) Chen and Sanjay Aiyar

Date: Feb. 23, 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Location: Emory Performing Arts Studio

Enjoy one of the student recitals by juniors and seniors majoring in Music at Emory. Joey Chen (26C) will play the trumpet. Sanjay Aiyar (25C) will perform his senior honors recital on piano. 

James Weldon Johnson Institute Colloquium Featuring LaShawnDa L. Pittman

Date: Feb. 24, 2025, 12-1:30 p.m.

Location: Jones Room, Robert W. Woodruff Library

Cost: Free

Join sociologist LaShawnDa L. Pittman as she discusses “Grandmothering While Black: A Twenty-First Century Story of Love, Coercion and Survival.” Pittman explores the phenomena in which Black children, on average, spend a higher percentage of time with their grandparents and how this shapes these households. 

Vulture Sister Song Performance 

Date: Feb. 25, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Location: Ackerman Hall

Cost: Free

Vulture Sister Song is an interdisciplinary collective of musicians, writers and dancers from around the country. The group utilizes storytelling, poetry, folk songs, dance and humor to invite audience members to reimagine art and artistry. 

Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra and University Chorus

Date: Wed. Feb. 26, 8 p.m.

Location: Schwartz Center for Performing Arts | Emerson Concert Hall 

Cost: Free

The Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO), composed of talented high school orchestral musicians, celebrates its 20th anniversary season this year. EYSO offers orchestral performance opportunities while supporting school directors and private teachers. Attend this concert to experience some of the finest youth orchestral musicians in Atlanta.
