Emory University earned the No. 24 position in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report’s (USNWR) “Best Colleges'' ranking for national universities in a three-way tie with Georgetown University (D.C.) and the University of Virginia. This is the second consecutive year USNWR has placed Emory at No. 24, halting the downward trend the University’s rankings followed the past two years.
In 2022, Emory fell to No. 22 and broke its five-year streak as No. 21. In 2023, Emory dropped again to No. 24 — the University’s lowest ranking since earning the No. 25 spot in 1994 — in a tie with Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.), University of Virginia and Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.).
However, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing climbed to the No. 1 spot in the undergraduate nursing rankings after earning the No. 3 position last year. Goizueta Business School’s undergraduate ranking declined slightly this year, dropping from No. 13 to No. 14.
Additionally, USNWR ranked Emory as the No. 22 “Best Value” school, which accounts for student outcomes and cost. The University also earned the No. 45 spot for “Most Innovative” schools.
