Emory’s Nursing’s Masters Program, Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. Program Ranks Second Nationwide

The U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 edition of the “America’s Best Graduate Schools” guide ranked the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing master’s program second in the nation. 

The nursing school’s master’s program ranked fifth in the 2021 edition, which was released March 16, 2020. The school’s doctor of nursing program remained in eighth place in the 2022 guide, with no change since the 2021 guide. 

The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. program also ranks No. 2 nationally. The program is a collaborative effort between the Emory School of Medicine, the Laney Graduate School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. 

Other notable rankings include the Rollins School of Public Health, which ranks fourth nationwide, one position higher than the previous year. 

While the Emory University School of Medicine’s rank among research-oriented medical schools now ranks No. 22 in the nation, up from 24 in the 2021 guide, the medical school’s rank among primary care schools slipped from 25 in the 2021 guide to 36. 

Goizueta Business School’s full-time MBA program ranking also fell from 22 in the 2021 guide to 26 in the 2022 guide. Likewise, the Emory University School of Law now ranks 29 nationally, down from ranking 24 the previous year.

Multiple humanities and social science Ph.D. programs in Laney Graduate School were newly ranked this year, including African American literature which ranks fourth, African history which ranks seventh and Latin American history which ranks 10th. 

Many other Ph.D. programs rose in ranks since the 2021 guide. The political science program’s rank jumped from No. 24 to 19, the English programs rank grew from No. 30 to 26 and the history program’s rank increased from No. 27 to 26.
