Tennis Blanks Washington and Lee

The No. 1 Emory’s men’s tennis team blanked Washington and Lee University (Va.) 9-0 Tuesday afternoon to improve to 17-3 on the year.

In doubles competition, the team of sophomore Scott Rubinstein and freshman James Spaulding coasted to an 8-1 victory on the No. 1 doubles court. The team of senior Rafe Mosetick and freshman Jonathan Jemison won 8-4 on the No. 2 doubles court, while the team of sophomore Andrew Harrington and sophomore David Omsky won their match 8-6.

The Eagles, up 3-0 going into singles competition, continued to dominate over the Generals by sweeping all six of their singles matches. Mosetick won the No. 1 singles court 6-1, 6-3, Jemison won the No. 2 singles court 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 and junior Aman Manji won the No. 3 singles court 6-3, 7-5. In the most competitive match-up of the afternoon, freshman Adrian Bouchet won his two sets in tiebreaker on the No. 4 singles court 7-5, 7-6 (7-3). Junior Josh Goodman won 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles court, and Harrington won the No. 6 singles court 6-0, 6-1. The team will return to action at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship Quarterfinals against New York University in Altamonte Springs, Fla. on Thursday, April 21.
