At the end of last week, the third-ranked Division III Eagles road-tripped throughout Florida and tested their talents against top-ranked Division II teams.
Their 12-game winning streak and undefeated season came to an end with a loss to Lynn University (Fla.) last Thursday. Their record during the trip was 1-2, making them 13-2 on the season.
Against Lynn, the Eagles were swept in doubles play and went on to lose 6-3. Their only wins came from No. 3 Michelle Satterfield, No. 5 sophomore Madison Gordon and No. 6 freshman Katarina Su.
Senior No. 1 Gabrielle Clark suffered, for the only time throughout the trip, a loss in both singles and doubles matches.
Friday, the Eagles were battered by third-ranked powerhouse Barry University (Fla.). Their sole point came from a No. 1 doubles win by the pair of Clark and freshman Melissa Goodman.
The Eagles bounced back in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday, beating Nova Southern University 6-3. All of their singles wins came as two-game sweeps and Clark won both her No. 1 singles match and No. 1 doubles match, paired with Su.
Emory will play in seven more matches before the University Athletics Association (UAA) and NCAA Championships.
They will take on first-ranked Division III Johns Hopkins University (Md.) April 5th.
The team's next game is this Friday. March 28 at home against DePauw University (Ind.). The Eagles will start play at 4:30p.m.
