The No.3-ranked Emory men's tennis team defeated Sewanee College (Tenn.) by a score of 9-0 on Tuesday. The Eagles won in a clean sweep, winning every singles and doubles match. The match was held in Sewanee, Tenn.
At first singles, sophomore Ian Wagner beat his opponent 1-6, 6-2, 10-7.
In the second doubles match, sophomore Alex Ruderman had a swift victory with a final verdict of 6-4, 6-4.
Freshman Rafe Mosetick won by a score of 6-3, 6-2 in his third doubles match. Mosewick said he viewed the match as "another step in the right direction towards getting ready for UAAs and nationals."
Senior Elliot Kahler defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-3, walking off of the court with a win.
Freshman Will Adams continued the trend with a clean sweep of 6-0, 6-0.
"Yesterday's match helped us gauge what we need to work on as we prepare for winning the upcoming [UAA] championship," Adams said.
Junior Simon Lavoie-Perusse rounded out the singles victories with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
On the doubles courts, the Eagles experienced similar success.
Kahler and Wagner teamed up to defeat their opponents with an quick 8-3 win in first doubles.
At second doubles, a duo of juniors Jackson Isaacs and Eric Seidelman combined forces to finish at 8-4 over their opponents.
Rounding out the doubles victories were junior Ayush Bajoria and Adams at third doubles with a victory of 9-8.
After this match, Emory maintains its No. 3 ranking and holds an overall season record of 10-5.
The Eagles will now return home, before hitting the road again for an April 16 match-up against Shorter University (Ga.).
